The new Frappuccino is layered with a creamy, cold foam over an icy Frappuccino for a sweet summer drink that has varying textures.

Starbucks has a lot of new items on their menu, but I try to try them all. I also try most of the menus that are coffee-based. Recently, I had the Horchata Shaken Espresso and I was sure to stop at the nearest café the moment the Iced Cherry Chai Latte became available.
It was a great honor to have been invited to attend the Starbucks Convention in Las Vegas and taste some of the new items Starbucks plans to test or offer in their cafes over the next few months. The Brown Sugar Strato Frappuccino was one of the items I tasted. It had been announced previously, but will not be included in the Starbucks Summer 2025 Menu until July. After a few sips and stirs I had some thoughts.
What is Strato Frappuccino?
The name “strato”, which means “layers” in Italian can be interpreted to mean that the Frappuccino has layers. Strato Frappuccinos use cold foam instead of whipped toppings. Starbucks drew inspiration from their customers for this menu item, as adding cold foam is a popular way to customize cold drinks such as cold brews and iced mochas.
In July, three Strato Frappuccinos will be available in all 50 states: The Brown Sugar Strato Frappuccino; the Strawberry Matcha Strato Frappuccino; and the Salted Caramel Mocha Strato Frappuccino.

Although I didn’t have the chance to sample all the new layers of Frappuccinos, I enjoyed the Brown Sugar Strato Frappuccino. This drink is coffee Frappuccino with brown sugar foam. It’s topped off with a cinnamon stripe.
It’s true that I’ve not ordered a Frappuccino for years, but it’s because I’m trying to reduce my morning sugar consumption–at the very least–not because I dislike the blended cold drinks. On my first taste, the coffee and icy texture were pleasantly familiar. The cold foam was already my favorite topping, as I always order flavored cold-brew cold foam. But I had no idea how well the velvety, creamy foam would complement the icy texture. Even after adding the cold foam to the coffee-flavored Frap, the drink still had a strong brown sugar taste.
Strato Fraps are the perfect drink for cold foam lovers who want something more indulgent and decadent.
What is the best time to get Brown Sugar Strato Frappuccinos?
Starbucks is yet to announce a launch date for the new drinks, but they are expected in July. You can use these drinks to get inspired and layer your favorite cold-foams over your favourite Frappuccinos. A mocha Frappuccino topped with cherry cold foam would taste similar to a piece of black forest. It would also be delicious to have a strawberry Frap with an horchata-flavored cold foam.
