Here’s our honest review of Tom Holland’s Nonalcoholic Beer.
The mere mention of non-alcoholic beer used to send screams of confusion and judgment throughout the bar. One time I served a Clausthaler to a client. The bartender sneered at me when I picked it up. She said, “Here is your fake beer”. The idea was certainly ridiculed by me at that time.
In the last few decades, I’ve changed my mind about “fake beer” and I am not alone. The nonalcoholic beverage market has exploded, and there is a full-fledged mocktail revival. When Tom Holland announced his intention to sell nonalcoholic beers, I became intrigued. Unbeknown to me, my father was also interested in non-alcoholic beer.
What’s the brand name of Tom Holland non-alcoholic beer?
Tom Holland launches BERO in 2024. Tom Holland was motivated to launch BERO after a journey of sobriety. In an interview with Food & Wine, he stated: “I didn’t realize how much of a problem alcohol was until I quit drinking.”
This is a mentality I can understand completely. I spent 15 months in my late 20s sober. The intensity of my hangovers was driving me crazy (not to mention all the money I spent on food deliveries and Ubers). To prove myself, I decided to go a whole year without drinking alcohol. This included holidays, dates, work functions, weddings, and all the rest. Dry January has completely changed my drinking habits, and I am sure that many other people can attest to this.
My dad Ted had a cardiac arrest in 2023. His doctor advised him to reduce his alcohol consumption. The ritual of opening a cold beer on Sundays, after cutting the grass or watching the football game was what Ted missed most. Tom Holland’s launch of BERO made him seriously consider giving non-alcoholic beer a second try. In typical father fashion, he did not tell me about this. A year later, when I asked if he would like to try BERO’s Double Tasty flavor, he mentioned this.
How does Tom Holland non-alcoholic beer taste?
Double Tasty, a West Coast IPA is the newest BERO product. Before a night of gaming, my dad and I chilled six packs in the refrigerator. The best way for me to test out NA beer would be by using it in the same manner as I normally drink regular beer.
The first can was drank straight from the can. We then poured the second into a pint glass that had been chilled. After cracking open the can, I immediately got that distinct citrus aroma of a West Coast IPA.
First sip of the first drink You can find out more about it here. Like regular beer. The taste was a bit strange! It was a fantastic flavor: bitter, crisp and hoppy. It was also a hit with my dad. He said, “I don’t normally like this type of beer but I find it refreshing.” First can downed with ease. After finishing one can, he belched. “It certainly burps as an IPA,” he replied.
Then we poured the beer in a pint glass that was already chilled. We started going a bit crazy at this point, as it tasted and felt like real beer. As we drank, we kept admiring it. I feel there’s beer inside. Ted asked, as he picked up the can and examined the label. Nope, I guess not.
BERO also stood out for its ability to maintain a good head after it had been poured in a glass. Ted said, “It pours nicely.” Ted said, “It pours with a nice head.”
Were we to buy Tom Holland non-alcoholic beer again
Yes, it is! My dad and I were both surprised at the quality of this beer. It was not only good-looking and tasty, it looked and tasted like nothing else. Real beer. I think this is an amazing breakthrough in the NA industry. This is something I’d buy to keep on hand when I want to avoid the effects of beer but don’t like sparkling water or soda.
My dad is not a harsh critic, but it does take a great deal to impress him. Ted is the man who said, in all seriousness: “Soda doesn’t do anything for me.” So there are high standards to meet in Ted’s world of beverages. He gave me his thoughts about the experiment.
This tastes just like real beer. On certain days, I crave beer. For example, if the weather is hot or if I’ve worked up a good sweat. However, I do not always desire the alcohol high. After two beers I am tempted to lay down. I’ve tried many nonalcoholic beer. “I’d rate this one as the best.”
Here you go, folks. This is the official seal of approval from dads. You might want to consider adding BERO to your shopping cart if you’ve never tried it before.
