Atlas, a coffee subscription brand, has added a mushroom coffee blend to its caffeinated range, and the new product has been named the best food and drink item tested by Taste of Home editors this year.
The blend comes as a powder that dissolves in warm water, much like instant coffee. Each serving contains 2,250mg of mushroom extracts including reishi and lion’s mane, along with cassia cinnamon, probiotics, prebiotics, L-theanine, collagen and vitamins D3 and B12. Caffeine is held at 45mg per serving, roughly half a cup of coffee or a can of soda.
The brand’s positioning leans on gut health and steady energy. Probiotics and prebiotics support digestion, L-theanine is said to balance the jittery effects of caffeine, and the collagen content is aimed at skin health, an ingredient the reviewer said is rarely found in rival blends.
Shopping editor Katie Bandurski, who tested Atlas subscription services in 2023 and 2024 before trying the new blend, said she was surprised by the low caffeine count and noticed a clear difference in energy and clarity that lifted her out of her mid-afternoon slump. Her verdict on flavour was mixed: bitter and chalky, less complex than brewed coffee, but better than any other mushroom coffee she had tried.
A second tester, who mixed three to four scoops with eight ounces of warm water using a handheld mixer, said the coconut latte blend masked the bitterness well and produced a foamy drink with the mushroom benefits built in.
A single bag contains 28 servings, and subscribers receive a starter kit with a measuring spoon, milk frother and wellness guide.
